Dr. Soo-Kyung Lee is Om P. Bahl Endowed Professor and Empire Innovation Professor of SUNY in the Department of Biological Sciences of University at Buffalo.
When Yuna arrived, Soo learned that Yuna has a mutation in FOXG1 gene, which masterminds the development of the forebrain which leads to the neurodevelopmental disorder named FOXG1 syndrome.
Since then, Soo has been focusing on studying FOXG1 gene and the FOXG1 syndrome using various mouse models combined with multi-faceted approaches including deep sequencing-based genomics technologies.
The Lee Labs (Soo and Jae's labs combined) at UB are rapidly making progress in several key areas of research for treating FOXG1 syndrome.

Dr. Jae Lee is Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences of University at Buffalo.
Prior to studying FOXG1, Jae has discovered several key transcriptional coregulator complexes, including the MLL4-complex, which contains two enzymes that play critical roles in epigenetic gene regulation, MLL4 and UTX.
Since their daughter Yuna arrived with the FOXG1 syndrome, Jae joined Soo for the journey to develop the cures for the FOXG1 syndrome.
